The WFAA is proud to announce that the Welsh and Open Field Archery Championships will once again be held at our flagship course at Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. Together, with Scotland's Red Gauntlet course, Fonmon ranks as one of the most difficult and challenging field courses in the country.

This, we hope, will ensure a good competition and plenty to think about whilst on the course. The tournament will follow the usual format of 1 hunter round and 1 field round. There will be ample car parking, toilet facilities and hot and cold catering on site throughout the weekend.

Please see the links to the right for more detailed information about how to enter, how to find the course, local accommodation and transport links. We will be updating this page almost daily over the coming weeks so you can keep an eye on the entry list as it grows and keep abreast of developments on the news column below.

We look forward to seeing you at the tournament!

Why Fonmon for 2008?
There are several activities afoot to open new courses around Wales. In particular, the opening of Draig Goch's course in September 2007 increased speculation that this would be the venue for the 2008 National Championships. We did consider hosting the tournament outside Fonmon but the decision was eventually taken to host once again at our flagship course. This was for two main reasons. Firstly, being close to Cardiff International Airport, the infrastructure is very good both in terms of transport links and local accommodation. The other reason is that the amount of work that would have been needed to get potential other courses ready for the tournament would leave us short of time. Of course, the challenge of the Fonmon course is one of the main factors that draw competitors in for this, our premier event of the year!

Limit Scores
We will be adopting the limit score system for the Welsh & Open Championships this year. The details of the limit score requirements will be posted shortly.

Useful Information:

Evening Meal on Saturday 20th of April
The traditional evening meal will be taking place again this year and the venue is The Green Dragon Inn as per last year.

After the success of the previous two years we feel that keeping the same format will make for a good evening.

The menu will be confirmed shortly and posted on this page.
